The servo of the Automatic Stickshift is installed in such a way that the clutch, after the gear selection was made, should lightly engage. Since the surface of the clutch disc improves after some use, the clutch can engage too hard. This change can be evened-out through the adjustment of the reduction valve on the servo. The adjustability of the engagement time also offers the possibility to tailor the grip of the clutch specific levels to the preference of the driver.

Caution: A too softly (slowly) engaging clutch will cause increased heat, and with it, increased glazing of the clutch disc.

The clutch engagement time is correct when, in selecting the lower gears without throttle, the clutch completely engages within appr. one second of letting loose of the selector lever.

This ist most certainly best checked in a test drive, where at a vehicle speed of appr. 44 mph (70 km/h), the selector lever is moved from '2' to '1', without giving any throttle.


1) Clutch engages too hard (fast)

Screw in the adjustment screw (Fig. 1, arrow) a quarter to a half turn and replace the screw cover.

Caution: At the basic installation of the reduction valve, the adjustment screw is appr. two turns above the edge of the seal.

2) Clutch engages too softly (slowly)

Screw out the adjustment screw (Fig. 1, arrow) a quarter to a half turn and replace the screw cover.


Testing

Test drive

Perform a test drive only when no apparent transmission problems are apparent. Test how the transmission performs under all conditions of driving, especially the engagement time of the clutch under braking and acceleration gear changing.

After the test drive, check the transmission for loose fasteners and leaks.
